Years with Blarney – 2nd year racing consistently
Favourite cyclist – Primoz Roglic. Not just because he recently won’t Romandy. Always liked his style. Also coming over from another sport, ski jumping. I came over from running. Michael Woods of EF Drapac, was a fantastic runner. He ran 3.57 for the mile as a teen. Stress fractures put an end to his running. It’s a brutal sport on the body.
Which of the following best describes you as a cyclist (Sprinter/Climber/Time Trialist/Puncheur/Rouleur) – Climber/Puncheur
Most memorable events/races you took part in – 2017 Rás
Best results – Probably Nenagh Classic 2017. Wasn’t racing long and finished with a very classy chase group.
Favourite race circuit – Suir Valley Stage 4
Favourite climb – Anything that goes up nice and steep!
Goals for 2018 – Getting into winning breaks and learning from it.
How have you benefited from being a member of Blarney CC – Absolutely. Great bunch of lads to train with. Your not going to get that in many clubs.
Advice you’d give to someone new to competitive cycling – Be consistent. Keep the curve going upward slowly.
Have you done the Rás before – Yes
What you remember most (good or bad) from past Rás experiences – Finishing circuit in Skerries is class. Put me on the bike at the start line and I’d race for 2 weeks, I just hate the preparation before each stage. That’s where a good backroom team comes in.
Stage you are most looking forward to in this years Rás – Stage 4
Stage you are least looking forward to in this years Rás – Anything with a lineout!!
