The Donal Crowley Family Fun Cycle is now free. we will be doing this along the Blarney walk along to sunset ridge and back. Sean Kelly will be there on Sunday (around 10.15am) to do a cycle with some of the Rebel Wheelers …. all are welcome to join in. Sean will then join the main event leaving the square 11am.

Note all times are estimated, anyone who has registered will be refunded

For people who have registered through PayPal, your confirmation email from PayPal is your receipt of payment. Bring it along with you if possible.

For people who have not registered through PayPal, registration will be open from 8.30 am

The finish will be at Waterloo Road, Blarney (see map below), refreshments will be served at the Blarney Castle Hotel.

Neutral service

Neutral service will be offered by Speedy Spokes and Kilgrews cycles for people who need tubes, tyres, repairs etc

Cycling Ireland Safety Code

All cyclists must adhere to the following guidelines from the Cycling Ireland Safety Code:
• Have a bicycle that is in good working order.
• Wear a hard shell cycling helmet.
• Be mindful of the need to act in a manner that takes account of their own safety and the safety of others.
• Ensure their fitness level is appropriate given the nature of the event.
• Ensure their nutritional requirements can be met.
• Be conversant with and obey the rules of the road at all times.
• Familiarise themselves with the event route.
• “Sign-on” for the event.

Training this Sunday is diverted

Training this Sunday 12/02/12 has been diverted to Kanturk to support Kanturk Cycling Clubs sportive called The Challenge of the 3 County’s. Sign starts at 9.00 at the Kanturk Rugby Club and the event starts at 10.00. So all riders that show up at the gully every Sunday for training, we will meet in Kanturk from 9.00 onwards.

Well folks it’s the picture that we have been waiting for. The Official launch of the Donal Crowley Memorial on the 19th February 2012. In the picture we have Terry O’Neill Club Secretary along with his son Cathal and of course the great Sean Kelly. Sean took time out of his busy schedule to meet with Cathal and the Blarney Cycling Club to officially launch the DCM in conjunction with the Rebel Wheelers who are an organisation who cater for the wheelchair bond and also Cystic Fibrosis . Also who was in attendance was Patsy Crowley (Club Coach), a very close friend of the man himself, Liam Casey (Club President), Brendan Mcloughlin (Club Chairman), Daniel Connolly (Club PRO), Kieran Twohig (Club Treasurer) and also special guest Ted Crowley who will be the PA on the big day. Sean was in great form and looked very lean and fit. He said that he was looking forward to the big event and riding along other enthusiasts. He said he can’t wait to see every one on the day. So folks its only about 3 weeks to the event so get registering on www.blarneycyclingclub.ie or you can register on the day.

TIME CHANGE FOR THE 10KM

Hey folks there is a time change for the 10km family cycle for the Donal Crowley Memorial on Sunday February 19th. The 10km will now start at 10:00am at the start of the walk way across the way from the new play area in Blarney. The 100km & 40km will start together at the same time 11:00am out side the Blarney Castle Hotel. Sign starts at 08:30 inside the Blarney Castle Hotel.

Novice Cyclists

To all novice cyclists or for those of you starting off cycling. We are meeting at the cross road for Waterloo in Blarney at 11:00am on Saturday. We will be going for an hour and half steady cycle, all welcome.
