Gold – Fish, Mick Takes Round 1

Mick Williams took round 1 of the Summer League on a wet night when the scratch group failed to catch the front group. The front group rode well over a shorter course, Mick took the group gallop from Aidan Forrest and Creany.

On a cold and wet night, the handicapper may have felt a bit generous. Thanks to Pat Crowley for organising and to Will Curtain and  Mr Foley for doing support cars.

Blarney CC will be hosting the Osborne Butchers Village Criterium, Donal Crowley Memorial Race, Kay Stratton Memorial A4 Race and The Blarney Cycles (Aidan Forrest) Underage event on the weekend of June 2nd and 3rd.

The Kiely Cup which was due to take place on the 18th of March has been postponed. Blarney Cycling Cup would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. The club will try to reschedule the event later in the year.

Blarney Cycling Club would like to thank you for taking part in the 2012 Donal Crowley Memorial Cycle that featured Sean Kelly.

Sean Kelly will be attending the 2013 Donal Crowley Memorial which will take place on Sunday 17th February 2013.

Due to demand and the publicity of this year’s event we will have to limit numbers to 1000 cyclists for 2013.

So registration is now open for the next Donal Crowley Memorial Cycle featuring Sean Kelly so start registering on www.blarneycyclingclub.ie

as when we get to 1000 cyclists we will be closing the entry.

The 2013 Donal Crowley Memorial will take place on Sunday 17th February 2013. This event has gone from strength to strength each year and we expect to have over 1000 cyclists for 2013. Once again it will be attended by the famous Sean Kelly and we will have 3 events on the day.

The 100km Leisure Cycle, the 40km Novice Cycle, 10km Family Fun Cycle. Registration for the family fun cycle is free and you can register on the day, not online.

Both the 100km & 40km will leave Blarney Village at 11:30 and head for Tower and will turn right at the Shournagh Line and the Family Fun Cycle will start at 10:00 by the bottle bank and head out the walk towards Killeens. Sign-on for all events will start at 8:30 in The Blarney Castle Hotel and the sign on will close at 11:00.

Shower facilities will be in the Blarney GAA, 1km from The Blarney Castle Hotel and there will be a hot meal waiting for you at the hotel on your return from your cycle.

This will be the biggest event of the 2013 cycling calendar and registration will open in the next couple of days and when it dose start registering immediately as we may have to cap the entries.
