Edward Barry Blarney Cycling Club wins at Killorglin
In the A3/A4 race Edward Barry of Blarney CC proved he was the strongest man in the race. He was closely marked throughout the race. After Peter Barber, St. Finbarr's, and Sean McCannon of Earl of Desmond went up the road Ed followed and they built a lead of almost 3 minutes by the end. The uphill finish suited ED.From the chase group David O Mahony of Blarney CC led home Russell Treacy, St. Finbarr's
BLARNEY FOR A GREAT RACING WEEKEND - 3RD & 4TH JULY
Brendan McLaughlin takes both events for another great weekend of cycling for Blarney CC
Criterium Saturday Night
Along with McLaughlin, Russel Tracey, Damien Barry and Liam Ryan literally fired themselves off the front of the big bunch. A quartet of four working in unison simply proved a handful for the chasers who never got into the event but continued round the circuit in pursuit of the leaders. Brendan, fearing that they might get caught attacked the breakaway quartet, opening up a gap with Russell, both worked hard to extend the gap. Liam dropped back to the chasing bunch but Damien hung out in the middle for the remainder of the race taking 3rd place. On the final bend Brendan made the decisive move on Russell and took the victory in front of the locals.

Sunday Race - DONAL CROWLEY / KAY STRATTON MEMORIALS
Brendan McLoughlin was back in the winner’s enclosure on Sunday afternoon in Blarney. The break was initiated on the second last lap on the climb out of Blackstone Br. Brendan was involved in every other brake all day but he seemed to have been caught napping for this one. Heading down on to the main road Brendan realised that this was possibly the winning break and he needed to make his move. Brendan jumped across but this was no easy task. On the closing stages Ed Barry attacked for the line but was chased down by M. O'Loughlin allowing Brendan to initiate the winning attack for the line.

Damien Barry Blarney Cycling Club wins at Roundwood
Christy McManus Trophy, Roundwood, Co. Wicklow, 84kms
Damien and 2 other riders rode across to the A4s, then attacked again and stayed away for the remainder of the race. With 200m to go there was only 2 left to fight it out with the chasing bunch seconds behind them.It was a close finish with Damien Barry beating Derek Cunningham (Bray Wheelers CC) to win.

Edward Barry Blarney Cycling Club wins at Currow
Another great result. The seperate A3 race had a breakaway group of six riders who contested the finish with Edward Barry (Blarney) winning the sprint for the line.
League Race
Tuesday 22nd June
Great turnout again last night, Limit group was off up the road with 10mins, semi scratch followed, and then the chasing scratch. The groups all got over Bweeng separately but the gaps were closing considerably fast. At Rathduff, just out on the loop they were all together and the marking game started to unfold. Attacks were plentiful but the significant one came in the form of James Lynch, David O’Mahoney & Ed on the woods climb. They quickly opened a gap of 20sec heading on to the Glen Rd. Back in the main bunch they needed to get into formation before it was too late. Eventually Brendan and Aggie started to organise the chase, was it too little too late, swinging over Dawson’s Br. the gap was cut back to 15sec. The breakaway were digging deep and working well together, they could sense the victory was deservedly theirs tonight. Ed took the sprint, James 2nd with David 3rd. Back in the chasing bunch they began to wined up for the sprint for the remaining scraps. Brendan took the bunch sprint for 4th with Aggie close behind for 5th
Tuesday 29th June
Top of GC were 3 superior riders; Owen Sheehan, Ed Barry & Aggie, it was anybodies race. Special Guest tonight was St. Finbarr’s Fiona Meade bronze medallist - Women’s National Road Race Championships.
Not much chat on the neutralised rollout start to the Shournagh Line, as the riders got into their zones. Limit group was given a healthy gap, the semi scratch were quickly on their heels, spear headed by Aggie determined to stay away tonight and reclaim the pink jersey which was rightfully his. Back in the scratch group a few riders had the overall GC in their grasp and were not giving up that easy. They dug deep and pushed on to catch the lead group by the Rathduff Loop. Turning out of Georgie’s corner Liam Ryan made an explosive attack off the front and opened up a gap; Ed tried to ride across to Liam but failed and was eaten up by the bunch. Disaster struck as Brendan punchered, his race was surely over as the bunch speed was high and attacks were plentiful. A remarkably quick mechanical change by Team car had Brendan back on the bike in seconds. Brendan buried himself and got back on to the bunch. Liam was not caught until about 1km from the Glen Rd, very impressive solo brake. Ed sensing danger to his title attacked, Aggie was quick to follow the danger man and amazingly Brendan was there too. This was quickly brought back as the bunch realised the threat of this strong 3 man brake. Damien immediately attacked with George on his wheel at Quarry Cross, this looked successful for awhile but shortly they too were reeled back in.
It was looking like a bunch sprint as the bunch flew down over Dawson’s Br, in the bunch were a few big power house sprinters, Brendan, Ed and Liam Ryan, it was difficult to call. On the line Brendan barely edged out Liam Ryan for victory, Ed 3rd.

Edward Barry Wins Stage 3 of Corkman 3 Day

Edward Barry took stage 3 of the Corkman in great style. It was another difficult course with some lengthy drags. The brake got away from the start and Edward worked extremely hard to stay away from the chasing group. Edward took the sprint with Damien Travers Dungarvan Cycling Club 2nd and Kieran Keane 3rd and overall winner.
